THORChain's RUNE token was at $0.518186 at 07:38:56 UTC on 2 November 2026, down 17.70159 percent over 24 hours on CoinGecko, while bitcoin on that same timestamp was $78,004 and up 0.27711 percent. The 24-hour range ran from $0.639386 to $0.496562. The seven-day change, minus 17.00995 percent, was smaller, so the prior six days finished above where they started.

31 October, after 11:34 UTC

THORChain's account places the break at 11:34 UTC on 31 October, when Ethereum produced a one-block reorganisation. A 10 ETH deposit stayed on the dropped block after the protocol had credited it, the swap missed its price limit, and both that credit and the real deposit were refunded, leaving the vault short 10 ETH. A solvency checker halted ether swaps, node operators halted signing within about two minutes, and three node votes paused every chain. The account says the user later returned the 10 ETH.

The hourly series sits awkwardly on that clock. CoinGecko shows $0.724275 at 16:00 UTC on 31 October, hours after the reorg, and $0.685546 at 17:00 UTC, down 5.35 percent in the hour, with the 23:00 UTC print at $0.650692. The session high arrived after the halt.

THORChain posted the sequence at 21:51 UTC on 1 November, an operations note rather than a price call.

The post named the chains still quoting: Avalanche, Base, RUNE, and the XRP Ledger. Halted were Cosmos, Bitcoin Cash, BNB Smart Chain, Bitcoin, Dogecoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Solana, Tron, and Zcash. It warned that a later external-chain reorg could let a same-nonce transaction draw funds from the vaults, and that nodes bring a chain back when they judge it safe. The list is the status as of that post, and the price kept falling afterward.

The morning print on 2 November

CoinGecko's 23:00 UTC print on 1 November was $0.556743. By 00:00 UTC on 2 November the series read $0.553650, and by 01:00 UTC it read $0.512106, a 7.50 percent hour. The hourly low is $0.501558 at 05:00 UTC, the 06:00 UTC print bounced to $0.520835, and the official spot at 07:38:56 UTC was $0.518186, with the 24-hour low at $0.496562.

Market cap was $170,620,583, down 17.70879 percent, at rank 188, with 329,294,493 RUNE circulating and $17,437,857 of dollar volume. Total value locked was $57,150,962, and the market-cap percentage tracked the token.

  • At 11:34 UTC on 31 October an Ethereum reorg left a vault short 10 ETH, later returned, and the 1 November post listed Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana among the halted chains, per @THORChain on 1 November 2026.

A closed shortfall beside the tape

A returned 10 ETH is the hole the account describes. Beside a $170.6 million token and a $17.4 million day of volume, that shortfall is small next to a 17.70159 percent print. The warning that remained was the refund path on a future reorg, and the halt list still included bitcoin and ether while bitcoin's spot market elsewhere rose 0.27711 percent.

How Raydium sets the fee a swap pays is a published schedule on a market that is quoting, and how Curve's stableswap sets a price is a pool that is open. THORChain's 1 November post is about chains taken offline after a double refund, with node votes as the switch that brings a chain back.

What to watch

The next check is that chain list: whether Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana come back, and whether Avalanche, Base, RUNE, and the XRP Ledger remain the quoting set. The post flagged a same-nonce transaction on a later external-chain reorg as a way vault funds could leave. The price marker beside it is the next CoinGecko reading against $0.518186 and against bitcoin at $78,004 on this timestamp.

Prices and supply figures are CoinGecko's THORChain and bitcoin snapshots at 07:38:56 UTC on 2 November 2026, and the halt sequence is THORChain's post at 21:51 UTC on 1 November 2026. This is not a recommendation to buy or sell RUNE, bitcoin, or any other asset.
