Pepe rose 15.4% between the CoinGecko hourly prints of $0.000004389 at 00:00 UTC on 23 October and $0.000005063 at 14:00 UTC, yet the same series showed $0.000004447 at 07:35 UTC on 24 October, and the coin record updated at 07:34 UTC put the token down 3.34% over 24 hours.
The spike left in a hurry. The 23:00 UTC print was $0.000004541, 10.3% under the high and only 3.5% above midnight, and by 07:35 UTC the token was 12.2% under it, while the seven-day change was still up 11.04%. CoinGlass, read the same morning, had the week up 12.03% and the day down 2.95% at $0.000004467. Both feeds show a higher week and a lower day, and they differ on the size of each window.
On Liqwall, the UTC day of 22 October shows $2.2 million of long liquidations against $227,000 of shorts, and CoinGecko's hourly path that day fell 5.6%, from $0.000004628 at 00:00 UTC to $0.000004368 at 23:00 UTC. The UTC day of 23 October flips the pain: $4.0 million of shorts and $2.7 million of longs, $6.7 million combined. Shorts were forced to buy into the rise, and most of it was gone by the next morning. Internet Computer rose 11.97% in a single day on a percentage that outlived the hourly highs, and Dogecoin rose 29% over 30 days for a reason outside the token.
The 15.4% was a squeeze in the futures tape, not a change in what the token is for. CoinGecko still dates the all-time high to $0.00002803 on 9 December 2024, and the 07:34 UTC price sits 84.15% under it, at a $1.87 billion market capitalisation, rank 52, with $655 million of volume over 24 hours.

Where the forced closes sat
Open interest is where the two dashboards meet. CoinGlass had $313.27 million, beside $770.69 million of futures volume over 24 hours. Liqwall had $319 million, up 0.8% on the day, and $6.8 million of rolling liquidations, under 1% of that volume print. CoinGlass put liquidations at about $2,249,968, with the venue rows blank on the page opened that morning. About three times separates the totals. Binance was $3.9 million of the Liqwall window, including $2.1 million of shorts.
| Window | Long liquidations | Short liquidations | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| 22 October, UTC day | $2.2 million | $227,000 | $2.4 million |
| 23 October, UTC day | $2.7 million | $4.0 million | $6.7 million |
| Rolling 24 hours, Liqwall | $3.3 million | $3.5 million | $6.8 million |
| Rolling 24 hours, CoinGlass | Unpublished | Unpublished | about $2.25 million |
Liqwall's day rows run midnight to midnight UTC, and both rolling rows were read on the morning of 24 October 2026.

Liqwall reads that negative funding as shorts paying longs, while the dollar weight behind the long account shares stayed off the page, so the headcount and the rate remain an open pair.
What to watch
- Liqwall's next UTC day either stays short-heavy, as 23 October was at $4.0 million of shorts, or flips toward longs, as 22 October did at $2.2 million while the hourly path fell 5.6%.
- The test is whether the Liqwall rolling total and the CoinGlass figure near $2.25 million move closer. Open interest already agrees more closely, at $319 million against $313.27 million.
- A later Binance read near 71.5% long, with funding still negative, would leave the same pair of facts in place.
- Liqwall had open interest up 0.8% over 24 hours while the CoinGecko price was down 3.34%, so positions were added into a falling print.
