Amazon (AMZN)
On 1 January 2025 Amazon changed an assumption. The estimated useful life of a subset of its servers and networking equipment went from six years to five, because of what the filing calls "the increased pace of technology development". No machine was bought or sold. The effect over the year was $1.4bn of additional depreciation and $1.0bn less net income, or $0.10 a share, and it "primarily impacted our AWS segment".
