US 2000 or Russell 2000 Index reflects the performance of about 2000 American companies with the smallest capitalization included in the Russell 3000 Index and currently trading on the American exchanges. It was founded in 1984 and is operated by FTSE Russell. 

As a capitalization-weighted index US2000 is very popular among small-cap investors. US2000 price is a benchmark preferred by mutual funds specialized in small-cap investments.
