The Traders Spread

GBP/USD

Sterling is still described as a major currency, and traders still call GBP/USD "cable" as if it sat alongside euro-dollar. The turnover data disagrees. In April 2025 GBP/USD accounted for 7.6% of global FX volume, down from 9.5% three years earlier, and it has been overtaken by USD/CNY at 8.1%, according to the BIS Triennial Central Bank Survey released on 30 September 2025.

Prices are periodic snapshots from public sources, shown for orientation only — they are indicative, can be stale, and are not a quote. A price marked “via” a ticker is that ETF’s share price standing in for the underlying, not the underlying’s own level or change. Nothing on this page is investment advice.
